  • Heating and Cooling Liquid Line Filter Driers an Overview

15/6/2020· Another type of liquid line drier has been especially developed for use on heat pump systems. This filter-drier provides system protection in both heating and cooling cycles with one filter-drier. These driers are equipped with internal check valves that allow refrigerant flow and filtration in either direction. The external check valves normally used on heat pump systems are eliminated.

  • Proper Liquid Line Drier Location HVAC School

12/2/2017· If you have a heat pump make sure to use a “bi-flow” drier. If you are mitigating a burnout ensure you are using a burnout suction drier. Make sure the capacity of the direr matches the capacity of the system, this will take a bit of reading. However for residential systems you can use 8 cu/in on small tonnage systems only. To be safe I would generally stick with 16 cu/in liquid line

29/8/2012· A liquid line filter/dryer is not a restriction to the flow of freon and will not harm the system even if there is another filter dryer in the line. It would be unusual to have a filter dryer on the indoor unit, they are normally installed on the liquid line on the outdoor unit. If your unit is a heat pump, the filter dryer must be bi-directional (as most now are)to allow freon to flow freely

  • Determining the Cause of a Liquid Line Restriction Problem!

2/9/2019· For instance, if the temperature drop across the drier is 3.0° F, the filter drier is clogged. This is usually measured with a dual temp meter with a temp sensor on the tube on each side of the drier. This way, both temps can be measured at the same time and a differential can be displayed on the temp meter. This is usually the first component checked after determining that a liquid line

  • heat pump filter drier hvac-talk

1/3/2013· heat pump filter drier Assuming there is a byflow liquid line filter drier, how does one install suction line filter drier? I would assume by putting two side by side with a check valve and piping so it would only flow with the direction of the vapor. Correct me if I am wrong please. 02-28-2013, 05:09 PM #2. garyed. 12/12/2007· Liquid Line Filter/Dryer for Mini Split what's the consensus in using dryer(s) on mini split systems? I've found units lasting much longer if line dryers are used, despite some installation manuals (ie. daikin) mentioning *not* to install a dryer. if you install them, do you use one on both liquid and gas side? 12-12-2007, 07:47 AM #2. ammoniadog. • Heat Pump Suction Line Filter Driers????

3/5/2011· From my research I know that you need to use a bi flow liquid line filter drier. What do I use on the suction side, can I use a removable core drier. The reason I ask is we had a burnout and I am cleaning it up and would like to put a removable core filter in so that it can be changed out after a few days of run time. Thanks for the help guys. 04-27-2011, 11:59 PM #2. VTP99. View Profile View

  • OT: Mini split ac heat pump filter dryer location

6/11/2015· Where should I locate a filter/dryer? I am guessing in the larger tube near the compressor. What I would call the suction line in the old days. I know some makers claim a filter is no needed but most information I can find says that in these small units a filter is even more critical since smaller components plug up with even less debris.
